Horizon Maths
The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris facilitates meetings between mathematicians from its laboratories and the industrial world through Horizon Maths, an annual conference on mathematical topics related to industrial issues.
Upcoming edition
The 2022 edition of Horizon Maths will take place on Tuesday December 6th 2022 at Sorbonne Université (4 place Jussieu, Paris 5e), Amphi 25 under the leadership of Jérôme Pérez (ENSTA PARIS) and Emmanuel Trélat (LJLL, Sorbonne Université). The theme is Mathématiques & Gravitation. Click here for more information. The registration is free but mandatory. Find here the registration form.
Principle
Each edition of the event Horizon Maths is co-organized by the Foundation in partnership with a company (EADS in 2010, AREVA in 2011, TOTAL in 2012, GDF SUEZ in 2013, IFP Energies nouvelles in 2014, IBM France in 2015, Huawei in 2017). The major themes around which the conferences are organized are proposed and discussed between the Foundation and the company, which also agree on the choice of speakers from the academic world and industry, and divide up the invitation to speak. The final program is established in a concerted manner.
The event is hosted by the co-organizing company. In addition to the conferences, a large place is given to discussions between the participants, allowing them to clarify certain points, to go further on the topics addressed or to initiate a more in-depth exchange that can continue after the event.
The conferences are recorded, with the agreement of each speaker and his company. The videos are then posted on the Foundation's website.
