Other programs and projects
Although it does not have a funding program for scientific meetings (symposia, congresses, workshops or schools), the FSMP exceptionally organizes events when it is at the origin of the project and provided that these events correspond to the specific needs of the entire scientific community that it represents.
The FSMP-IHP program aims to support, in conjunction with LabEx Carmin, stays at the IHP for scientists working in France, as part of the 12-week thematic programs of the Centre Émile Borel.
The Childcare program aims to help parents in their research activity by supporting childcare during trips to international conferences or research visits.
This support is aimed at women as well as men, with the idea that family situation should not prevent the pursuit of an academic career.
The China-France Mathematics Talent Class (CTMCF) program was initiated in 2019 and renewed on October 26, 2023, for a period of 5 years, between the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei and the FSMP and the FMJH (Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard).
The Fields Institute and the Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris cooperate with the aim of stimulating research and mediation in mathematics, in line with their respective missions. This cooperation takes the form of exchanges of doctoral students, exchanges of junior researchers and visits of senior researchers.
The National Institute of Mathematical Sciences and their Interactions (Insmi), the Mathematics Research Center (CRM), the Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation (FMJH) and the Paris Mathematical Sciences Foundation (FSMP) have signed an agreement aimed at stimulating cooperation in mathematical research between France and Quebec in the direction of their respective missions. This agreement involves the establishment of exchanges of doctoral students, as well as exchanges of researchers.
The FSMP is a partner of the Ibni Prize, which honors the memory of the Chadian mathematician and politician Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh and helps finance a scientific stay of several months for young mathematicians from Central or West Africa.
Kevin Henriot completed a brilliant thesis in 2014 at the University of Montreal in additive combinatorics. His thesis was co-directed by Régis de la Bretèche (Université Paris Diderot) and Andrew Granville (Université de Montréal) and received funding from both institutions. He then did a two-year post-doc at UBC (University of British Colombia). Kevin Henriot died prematurely on June 17, 2016.
Zoé Chatzidakis was an internationally renowned mathematician, specialist in the theory of body models. Director of research at the CNRS at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and at the University of Paris Cité, winner of the Lecomte Prize of the Academy of Sciences in 2013, guest speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2014 and winner of the Tarski Conference in 2020, Zoé Chatzidakis left us on January 22, 2025.
Help us recognize and support the outstanding work of young mathematicians working in approximation theory and related fields! The Popov Prize fund is currently hosted by the Fondation Science Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP).
