Doctoral student stays
The Paris Mathematics Sciences Foundation finances, for doctoral students who are members of a laboratory affiliated with the foundation, scientific research stays in external laboratories (French or foreign) for periods of at least one month.

MathPhDInFrance
The FSMP also supports the COFUND MathPhDInFrance program, co-financed as part of the European Horizon Europe program “Marie Sklodowska-Curie Co-funding of Regional, National and International Programs” (Grant Agreement n°101126554). MathPhDInFrance offered a total of 48 scholarships for theses under joint supervision between a laboratory in Île-de-France and a laboratory in the Region. Started in 2024 or 2025, these theses are in progress.
The program is no longer accepting applications.

Qube Theses
The Qube Research and Technologies (QRT) endowment fund funds a three-year doctoral contract each year as part of its patronage program which aims to support and promote mathematics and science. This funding is in addition to the contribution of the Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris to the doctoral schools within its scope. The selection is carried out by the FSMP through the doctoral schools; it does not give rise to a specific application procedure.
Winners:
-
In 2026, the winner of the program is Paul Lemarchand for a thesis under the supervision of Sébastien Boucksom (Sorbonne University, IMJ-PRG) and Vincent Guedj (Institut Mathématiques de Toulouse).
-
In 2025, the winner of the program is Julien Ketabi, for a thesis under the supervision of Eric Vernier (LPSM, Université Paris Cité), in co-direction with Jesper Jacobsen (LPENS, Sorbonne Université).
-
In 2024, the winner of the program was David Sikuaev, for a thesis under the supervision of Charles Fougeron and Julien Barral (LAGA, Université Sorbonne Paris-Nord), in co-direction with Valérie Berthé (IRIF, Université Paris Cité).
-
In 2023, the winner of the program was Siwar Ben Said, for a thesis under the supervision of Jérôme Le Rousseau (LAGA, Université Sorbonne Paris-Nord).
Math@AI theses in Paris
The FSMP and the FMJH are supporting the Math&AI in Paris project, which will provide 5 doctoral grants* over five years for theses in mathematics applied to AI. This funding is in addition to the contribution of the two foundations to the doctoral schools in their respective areas. The selection of candidates will be carried out by the FSMP and the FMJH through their respective doctoral schools. It does not give rise to a specific application procedure. On the FSMP side, the actions of this program are financed by the PostGenAI@Paris AI cluster, supported by Sorbonne University, which benefits from state aid managed by the National Research Agency under France 2030 bearing the reference "ANR-23-IACL-0007".
*3 of these doctoral allocations will be financed by PostGenAI@Paris and 2 will be financed by the DATAIA cluster, of which the FMJH is a partner.
Winners:
- In 2026, the winner of the program is Sixtine Marcotte for a thesis under the supervision of Julien Salomon (Sorbonne University, LJLL, INRIA ANGE team) and Emmanuel Audusse (Gustave Eiffel University, LAMA).
- In 2025, the winner of the program is Lilian Say, for a thesis under the supervision of Sylvain Le Corff (LPSM, Sorbonne University), in co-direction with Christophe Denis (SAMM, University Paris 1 Sorbonne).
