Privacy policy
This privacy policy (hereinafter the "Privacy Policy") applies to any person who browses the Site (i.e. the Institutional Portal, application portal and dedicated sites (DIM, Cofund) to which the said Portal links), uses the various admission services, calls for projects and donations available on the Platforms (hereinafter the "Services") and/or interacts with the FSMP in connection with the use of the Site (hereinafter the "User(s)").
The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP), as data processors, endeavors and undertakes to protect the privacy of Users in accordance with legal requirements and, in particular, Law no. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, as amended (known as the "Informatique et Libertés" law) - and any law or directive that may supplement or replace it - and European Regulation 2016/679 on the protection of personal data ("RGPD"). The purpose of the Privacy Policy is thus, in particular, to inform Users as fully as possible of the way in which the FSMP protects the personal data it collects within the framework of the Site.
By providing personal data when using the Site and Services, the User acknowledges that he/she has read the terms of this Privacy Policy and the legal notice.
Unless otherwise specified in this Privacy Policy, capitalized terms defined in the Legal Notice shall have the same meaning in the Privacy Policy.
1. Data collected by the FSMP
In particular, the FSMP may collect and process the following User data:
- User account details: user name and email address.
As part of the Admissions Platform, FMSP may collect and process the following User data:
- Identity and contact details: title, surname, first names, address, telephone number (landline and/or mobile), fax number, e-mail addresses, date and place of birth, nationality, photo, photocopy of national identity card or passport;
- Professional life: CV, cover letter, copies of transcripts and diplomas, letters of recommendation, publications;
- The personal data of a candidate's academic or professional referee: surname, first name, title, email address, establishment.
In accordance with Article 6 of the RGPD, consent to data processing will be requested from the User for all of the purposes mentioned below. By way of derogation, consent may not be requested if the processing is aimed at strict compliance by the FSMP with a legal obligation to which it is subject.
The compulsory nature of the information that the User must provide on the Site is indicated at the time of data collection and on the corresponding forms by an asterisk and/or a list of compulsory fields. Any failure to reply or any reply deemed abnormal by the WSPF may result in the WSPF refusing to consider the User's request.
The WSPF may ask the User to provide certain personal data for canvassing/marketing purposes (sending newsletters, invitations to events, etc.). The User may explicitly and freely consent or not to the collection and processing of his/her personal data for these purposes by ticking a box. The User also has the option of unsubscribing at any time, at least by e-mail, or even via a dedicated interface.
2. Purposes of processing
As the data controller, the FSMP collects Users' personal data lawfully and fairly and respects their rights. The main purpose of collecting personal data is to provide Users with a safe, optimal, efficient and personalized experience.
The information collected by the FSMP, including personal data, is used for the following purposes:
- Manage user account creation;
- Manage the submission of applications for programs managed by the FSMP ;
- Gather recommendations from academic or professional referees for applicants to FSMP-managed programs;
- Manage the submission of dossiers in response to FSMP calls for projects;
- Manage members, donors and donations;
- Send newsletters and other prospecting messages (with the User's consent);
- To compile statistics and improve the Site and Services;
- Communicate with Users and answer their questions;
- Comply with applicable legislation and regulations.
3. Data collected through cookies

4. Data retention period
The data collected will be kept for a minimum period, depending on the purposes sought by the FSMP. Depending on the type of processing, the duration may vary. It may not exceed 5 years, except in the case of alumni follow-up. The FSMP endeavors to delete data that is no longer required for ongoing actions and programs as quickly as possible.
5. Users' rights regarding their personal data
Pursuant to Chapter III of the RGPD relating to the rights of the data subject, the User may at any time request access to the data collected from PSL, the data controller. Under the same conditions, he or she may also assert a right to data portability, erasure, rectification and a right to object to processing.
The User may also withdraw the consent on which the processing was based at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing prior to withdrawal.

The User may lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) if he/she considers that the processing to which he/she has been subjected has been carried out in breach of the European Data Protection Regulation.
6. Accuracy of personal data
The User undertakes to ensure that the personal data provided on the Site is up to date, accurate, complete and unambiguous.
7. Communication of Users' personal data
The FSMP undertakes to keep all personal data collected via the Site and to share it only in certain circumstances and in accordance with the provisions of the applicable regulations.
In particular, the FSMP may grant access to Users' personal data to third-party service providers, acting as subcontractors, to perform services relating to the Site and in particular hosting, storage, analysis, data processing, database management or IT maintenance services. These service providers only act on instructions from the FSMP and will only have access to Users' personal data to perform these services and will be bound by the same security and confidentiality obligations as the FSMP.
In addition, the User's personal data may be shared with third parties for the following purposes:
• In the event of a merger or acquisition of all or part of the FSMP by a third party, which the User accepts;
• In response to legal or administrative proceedings of any kind or to law enforcement measures requested by the competent authorities;
• To comply with legal obligations, to protect the rights and/or safety of an individual, to protect the rights and property of FSMP, including the need to ensure compliance with this Privacy Policy, and to prevent fraud, security or technical problems.
8. Transfer of Users' personal data
Personal data collected by the FSMP on the Site is not transferred outside the European Economic Area.
9. Security and protection of Users' personal data
The security of personal data is one of FSMP's priorities. The FSMP undertakes to take all reasonable administrative and technical measures to prevent any disclosure, use, alteration or destruction of personal data provided by a User (access control, password security, access according to specific authorizations, etc.).
10. Modification of the Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy may be consulted on the Site at any time. The MSPF reserves the right to modify it at any time. The modified Privacy Policy will take effect on the date it is posted on the Site.
